2026 Fantasy Outlook
His first full Cup Series season was quite the sensation. Van Gisbergen would win five of the six road/street courses last year and nearly sweep the road racing circuit of 2025. That type of dominance on the road circuits has never been seen in the modern NASCAR era. The one "knock" on van Gisbergen's rookie season was his lack of performance on the many ovals of the Cup Series schedule. That said, the Trackhouse Racing talent began to show some progress in that regards towards the end of last season. He would grab 10th-, 11th- and 14th-place finishes late in the year at Kansas, Talladega and Martinsville. Those hopeful signs highlight his potential for 2026. Van Gisbergen is likely never going to be as good on ovals as he is on road courses, but if he can manage even some competitiveness and consistency, it will add greatly to his fantasy racing value and make him a solid B-tier driver. ANALYSIS
The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet would lead a race-high 31 laps and dominate most of this event on Saturday afternoon. Van Gisbergen would retake the lead late after the day's last caution and hold off all challengers over the final 5 laps. He'd cross the finish line 0.78-seconds ahead of Austin Hill to claim his first win of the season and fifth-career O'Reilly Series victory.

2025
2024
The Supercars champion burst onto the scene and became an immediate sensation with his start on the Chicago Street Course last summer. Van Gisbergen would take the lead from Justin Haley and lead the final 8 laps in challenging conditions on a challenging circuit. He would grab the victory in his only Cup Series start to that point. To prove that was no fluke, van Gisbergen would follow that performance up with a strong 10th-place finish on the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit a few weeks later. The veteran driver really impressed Trackhouse Racing and earned a driver development contract for 2024. Van Gisbergen will run the full Xfinity Series schedule in addition to seven Cup Series starts. While his experience with ovals is on the light side, he's a world class road course driver. He will be very impactful in those particular starts as he starts his NASCAR development journey.
