McLaughlin was fastest in opening practice for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg NTT IndyCar Series race on the Streets of St. Petersburg on Friday. He turned a fast lap of 1:01.1020.
ANALYSIS
Late in the session things would switch from data collection to mock qualifying runs. Lap times would tumble as the session wore on. McLaughlin would take a late flyer of the circuit and push the 1:01 mark in his effort. He'd be six-one-hundredths better than Felix Rosenqvist for the fastest lap of the St. Pete street course. McLaughlin loves this track and will be a top contender to win Sunday in the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete.
