Bortoleto qualified 17th but was only five one-hundredths of a second off the pace of teammate Nico Hulkenberg. While that was a positive, he immediately fell behind on the opening lap, however, which doomed him to a 19th-place finish. Nevertheless, Bortoleto has had a decent start to his rookie season relative to what his Kick Sauber is capable of.
