Heavy Crash in Montreal
Albon suffered a heavy crash in FP1 for the Grand Prix of Canada Formula 1 race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Friday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
The Williams Racing veteran would bring out the second red flag of the session after Liam Lawson's mechanical failure. Albon would make only 14 laps in this FP1 before losing control and hitting the wall hard on the circuit. His car would suffer extensive damage from nose to tail as the impact was a real tank slapper. The Williams team will now scramble to repair the car ahead of Friday afternoon's Sprint Qualifying session.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Albon's first year with Williams went a little less smoothly than the Englishman might have hoped, despite consistently finishing ahead of his teammate, Nicolas Latifi, in the 2022 season. With six DNFs out of 21 starts, Albon struggled to retain any momentum between races, but was still able to bring home some points for the team at Melbourne, Miami, and Spa. A ruptured appendix and resulting complications with his appendectomy caused Albon to miss out on the race at Monza, but ultimately he was able to finish off the year with an average finish of 14th-place. The driver of the No. 23 is looking to improve his overall performance this year, while the new team dynamic between himself and incoming rookie Logan Sargeant is yet to be established. Both drivers would do well to bring home more points for Team Williams in 2023, indicating that the once-great constructor might still have talent to offer the sport after so many years at the back of the pack.
