Dominant in return to win column
StrawweightUFC
April 4, 2026
Jandiroba defeated Tabatha Ricci via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a very strong bounce-back effort from Jandiroba on the heels of her unanimous decision loss to Mackenzie Dern in a title fight in October. Jandiroba lives and dies with her wrestling game, and in this instance, she was able to get it going. She landed 6-of-12 takedown attempts, good for exactly 8:00 worth of control time. Between the time spent in a dominant position and fact Ricci landed just 13 significant strikes through two rounds, Jandiroba was easily up 20-18 on all three scorecards. She faded some in Round 3, but the fight was over by then. Virna remains in title contention a little less than two months shy of her 38th birthday. The loss to Dern was her only setback dating back to October 2021.

Facing Ricci in Vegas
StrawweightUFC
January 9, 2026
Jandiroba will take on Tabatha Ricci in a strawweight bout at UFC Vegas 115 on April, 4, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Jandiroba is coming off a tough loss in the UFC Women's Strawweight Championship in October, falling to Mackenzie Dern via unanimous decision. Still, she sits at an impressive 8-4 record in the UFC, and will look for win No. 9 against a fighter in Ricci who is also in good standing in the promotion, boasting a 7-3 record heading into the bout.
Comes up short in title quest
StrawweightUFC
October 25, 2025
Jandiroba came up short in her quest for the vacant UFC Women's Strawweight Championship on Saturday, falling to Mackenzie Dern via unanimous decision (46-49, 46-49, 47-48) at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Riding a five-fight winning streak and without a loss dating back to October 2021, Jandiroba finally got her shot at UFC gold. She was competitive, although she ultimately didn't do enough offensively to warrant the decision. What little success Virna had was the result of her wrestling game. She landed two takedowns in each of the first three rounds and nine overall. The issue is that Jandiroba tends to do little with her positional advantage, which, combined with her poor stand-up defense, makes it difficult to overcome. Virna turned 37 years of age in May and has one knockout win in 25 professional fights, and that came via opponent injury. She's turned into a decision machine late in her career, and the odds are against Jandiroba earning another shot at UFC gold down the line.
Getting shot at title
StrawweightUFC
August 28, 2025
Jandiroba will fight Mackenzie Dern at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 25, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jandiroba dominated her previous opponent, Yan Xiaonan, at UFC 314 in Miami. Jandiroba will now draw an opportunity to compete for the vacant strawweight title against Dern, who owns a 15-5 professional record and is coming off two victories herself.
Closing in on title shot
StrawweightUFC
April 12, 2025
Jandiroba defeated Yan Xiaonan via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 314 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
A stoppage would have been nice, but this was a dominant effort by Jandiroba against a high-level opponent and should be more than enough to earn her an upcoming title shot. Recognizing Yan's advantage on the feet, Virna fired off 11 takedown attempts. She landed one in each round, good for 9:59 worth of control time. Jandiroba was credited with three submission attempts, but it felt like more than that. Her ground game is as good as any female in the division. Virna is going to struggle in prolonged striking exchanges, but she's very good at fighting to her strengths. Set to turn 37 years old in late-May, this may be Jandiroba's only legitimate run at UFC gold.
Taking on Xiaonan in April
StrawweightUFC
February 2, 2025
Jandiroba will fight Yan Xiaonan at UFC 314 in Miami on April 12, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Jandiroba will ride a four-fight win streak into the bout as she looks to continue to move her way up the female strawweight rankings. The 36-year-old Brazilian will look to use a slight reach advantage to take on the younger Chinese fighter, though Xiaonan will carry a height advantage in the bout. As a submission specialist, Jandiroba will undoubtedly be looking to take things to the ground in this one, as she boasts a perfect 14-0 record in submission finishes.
