Sanches defeated Chasen Blair by KO (strikes) at 2:01 of Round 1 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.

Sanches actually entered this fight as a slight betting underdog and found himself in trouble early, giving up his back to Blair. Sanches was eventually able to shake his opponent and get back to the feet, where he backed Blair down against the fence with a barrage of strikes to the head and body, eventually putting Blair's lights out with a three-punch combo. Sanches, a training partner of Jailton Almeida, now enters a deep lightweight division at just 22 years old. Considering he didn't absorb a single strike in this contest, he could be ready to debut in short order.
