Zhu was expected to make his long-awaited UFC debut against Marcio Barbosa in March, but the bout was canceled. Zhu will have the chance to step into the octagon in Asia, where he should have plenty of fan support, against a struggling Taveras, who has a 1-2 record at the UFC level. Zhu has a 21-4-0 record as a pro, with 12 of those wins coming by either KO or TKO.

While finishes didn't materialize for Zhu on the show, he's typically more comfortable in the stand-up, with half of his 24 career victories coming by way of KO/TKO. Barbosa also prefers to stand and trade, with only two career submission victories compared to 14 KO/TKO wins.
