Aldana lost to Norma Dumont via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 306 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Common sense would have led you to believe that if she was able to remain upright, Aldana would have had an excellent chance of winning this fight. Well, she managed to stuff all five of Dumont's takedown attempts and still found herself dominated from bell-to-bell. Aldana found herself on the short end of a 159-69 count in terms of total strikes landed. She also had to deal with a massive gash above her eye and a ton of blood caused by an accidental clash of heads. A .500 fighter over the course of her past four bouts, Aldana is now 36 years of age and has had a ton of fights in which she's absorbed a ridiculous amount of damage. That's highly concerning moving forward.

Aldana ate countless early leg kicks that left her hobbled the entire fight. She appeared to have no idea how to check any of them, and it's nothing short of a minor miracle her leg didn't give out. To Aldana's credit, she hung in there and turned up the volume over the final ten minutes, particularly to the body. Yes, Aldana lost the total strike battle by a 204-145 count, but if you're scoring on a round-by-round basis, she deserved to win.
