Hafez has been suspended by UFC for taking a banned substance during his recovery process from an undisclosed injury, according to Adam Martin of Heavy Sports.
ANALYSIS

Hafez lost to Oban Elliott via KO (punches) at 0:40 of Round 3 at UFC 309 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
It appeared for all the world that Hafez was down two rounds at the time of the stoppage, but it turns out one judge had him up two rounds and the other had it tied at a round apiece. It's hard to figure. Hafez looked lethargic and refused to commit to his offensive attacks. He also ate upwards of 30 low kicks which left his movement compromised. One huge right hand from Elliott knocked him out cold before he reached the mat. Bassil nearly stunned Jack Della Maddalena in his late-notice company debut back in July 2023, but he's gone just 1-1 since, with this loss to Elliott and a unanimous decision win over Mickey Gall on his ledger.

Hafez defeated Mickey Gall via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC 302 on Saturday in Newark.
ANALYSIS
As often happens when two grapplers meet, Hafez and Gall stood in the pocket and threw for the better part of their 15-minute fight. In the end, the power of Hafez made the difference, as did his ability to establish control when he brought the fight to the ground. It's still a bit difficult to know what kind of fighter Hafez will be in the organization, as he would be better-served wrestling than brawling, but his ability to engage in any type of fight makes him a welcome addition to the welterweight division. Hafez moves to 9-4 in professional MMA due to the victory,

Hafez is scheduled to compete against fellow welterweight Mickey Gall at UFC 302 in Newark on June 1, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Hafez's next opponent has not won a UFC or MMA fight in more than two years. However, the downside is that he will likely have to deal with a hometown crowd against his favor, as the aforementioned fight is scheduled to take place in Gall's home state of New Jersey. Still, with a 1-0 UFC record, Hafez has momentum on his side.
