Chinakhov concluded the 2024-25 regular season with seven goals and 15 points in 30 appearances with Columbus. He showcased plenty of promise at the beginning of the year, lighting the lamp seven times and posting 14 points in his first 21 outings. However, he missed 39 straight games afterward due to a back injury and couldn't find his footing after returning to the lineup in early March. Chinakhov had one assist in nine contests and sat out 13 matchups as a healthy scratch, which likely led to his trade request this offseason. Despite his 2023-24 being bookended by injuries, Chinakhov took a step forward with 16 goals and 13 assists in 53 appearances in his third year with the Blue Jackets. The forward finally got a chance at some top-six minutes, averaging 15:10 of ice time per game. At 23 years old, there's still room for more growth in his game, especially if the Blue Jackets can claw their way out of the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. If he shakes off the upper-body injury that ended his campaign and avoids further lengthy absences, he could challenge for a 20-goal, 40-point year in 2024-25.
