2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gavrikov had five goals and 30 points in 82 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2024-25, which isn’t bad for a blueliner who got next to no power-play ice time. However, the Rangers didn’t sign him to a seven-year, $49 million contract over the summer because of his offense. Gavrikov is defensively responsible and will likely feature on the Rangers’ top pairing alongside the more offensively minded Adam Fox. Under that arrangement, Gavrikov will probably chip in another 20-30 points this season. He’s also a good bet to finish with over 110 blocks, so if your league uses that category, then you might want to take him ahead of other defensemen with similar projected scoring numbers. Notches assist
Gavrikov had an assist and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Lightning.
ANALYSIS
Gavrikov posted four assists over seven outings in April. The 30-year-old defenseman's first campaign with the Rangers was a bright spot for the team, as he put up a career-best 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) with 119 shots on net, 105 blocked shots, 50 hits, 50 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 82 appearances. Gavrikov has six more years on his deal, and while he'll likely regress from an 11.8 shooting percentage, he'll be capable of well-rounded production in a top-four role.

Gavrikov topped the 20-point mark for the second time in his five-year career in 2023-24, generating six goals, 17 assists, 114 shots on goal and 114 blocked shots in 77 regular-season games for the Kings. The 28-year-old defenseman is effective in his role as a shutdown blueliner, playing on Los Angeles' second pairing. He showed well with Matt Roy as a partner last year, but Gavrikov will have to adjust to a new pairing after Roy signed with the Capitals. That could lead to Brandt Clarke or Jordan Spence moving into the top four. As such, it wouldn't be surprising for Gavrikov's scoring numbers to dip if he has to put extra focus on his own zone to cover for a young teammate.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Unable to reach deal with LA
Gavrikov will test the free-agent market Tuesday after being unable to come to terms on a new contract with the Kings, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
ANALYSIS
Gavrikov is going to be in high demand Tuesday, as fellow blueliners Aaron Ekblad and Ivan Provorov re-signed with their respective clubs. While the 29-year-old Gavrikov isn't a standout in the offensive zone, he plays a reliable two-way game, so there could be a bidding war for him when free agency officially opens. The 6-foot-3 defenseman appeared in all 82 regular-season games with the Kings in 2024-25, having garnered five goals, 30 points, 140 blocked shots and a stellar plus-26 rating while managing 23:05 of ice time per game.
