2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hinostroza is a veteran journeyman forward who can slot in on an NHL team’s bottom six but often finds himself either as a healthy scratch or in the minors. He had five goals, 10 points, 10 PIM, 48 shots and 41 hits across 38 regular-season appearances between Nashville and Minnesota in 2024-25 as well as 11 goals and 33 points in 26 regular-season AHL outings with Milwaukee. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the 31-year-old start this season in the minors, but he should receive stints in the NHL when injuries dictate the need, which could be often if the Wild get bit by the injury bug frequently again in 2025-26. When he is in the lineup, Hinostroza is a decent source of hits and can chip in a bit offensively. Read Past Outlooks
Set for extended absence
Head coach John Hynes said Tuesday that Hinostroza's lower-body injury will sideline him for 4-6 weeks, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Hinostroza was placed on injured reserve Monday, and this latest update indicates that the 31-year-old will be out of the lineup until at least sometime in late December. The Wild are dealing with multiple injuries up front, so their top players will need to continue carrying the load, but that also means depth players will receive consistent opportunities going forward.

Hinostroza will play for his fifth team since the start of the 2019-20 season after landing a one-year deal with the Penguins this offseason. He was a frequent healthy scratch with the Sabres last season, tallying just two goals and 11 points in 26 games. The 29-year-old winger has scored double-digit goals twice in his NHL career, including a 13-goal performance during the 2021-22 season. Hinostroza will compete for a bottom-six role with the Penguins in training camp but could be a regular healthy scratch again. Even with some more playing time, his ceiling will be limited in a small role with no power-play time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May be heading for minors
Hinostroza was seen leaving the arena with his gear Tuesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports, an indication he will be reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
ANALYSIS
Hinostroza was a healthy scratch for five of the Penguins' last six games and appears to be the odd man out with Bryan Rust expected to return from an upper-body injury. While it may not be the last Hinostroza has seen of the NHL, he appears to have lost his spot in the lineup to the likes of Valtteri Puustinen, Jansen Harkins and Drew O'Connor.
