Signs long-term extension
RWPhiladelphia Flyers
July 1, 2026
Foerster signed an eight-year, $56.8 million contract extension with Philadelphia on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Foerster was limited to a mere 29 regular-season games in 2025-26 due to injury. Despite the lack of games, the 24-year-old Ontario native still produced 13 goals and four assists, including four power-play points. However, he failed to produce in the playoffs with just one point in 10 tilts. Still, this deal, which will begin in the 2027-28 campaign, figures to keep Foerster as a key member of the Flyers' top six for the long haul.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2024
2023
Foerster struggled with consistency in the 2024-25 regular season, compiling 25 goals and 43 points across 81 appearances. He concluded the campaign with nine goals and 13 points in 12 outings, but a slow start played a significant role in preventing him from being a 50-point producer. Still, Foerster was a decent source of secondary offense while playing alongside Bobby Brink and Noah Cates. The 23-year-old Foerster also logged time on the first power-play unit, earning the second-most goals (six) and points (eight) on the Flyers. He could flirt with the 30-goal mark in 2025-26 and has 45-55 point potential if his role continues to increase. However, he may miss time at the start of the year due to an injury suffered at the IIHF World Championship in May, which could lead to another slow start.
Foerster was one of four rookies to reach the 20-goal mark in 2023-24. In 77 games with the Flyers last season, he produced 20 tallies, 13 assists, 167 shots on net and 101 hits. Foerster had a sluggish start and cold finish to the year, but there is reason to believe he can improve in 2024-25. He generated 15 goals, 84 shots and nine helpers during a 37-game span from Nov. 28-March 2. He will likely remain in Philadelphia's top six in 2024-25, though his power-play role might be reduced because of the arrival of highly touted rookie Matvei Michkov. The 22-year-old Foerster could reach the 40-point mark in the upcoming season if his consistency improves.
While it was just a cup of coffee in the 2022-23 season, Foerster impressed with seven points in his first eight games. He likely would have seen more NHL time if he hadn't undergone shoulder surgery last fall, but he'll have a great chance of breaking camp with the Flyers in 2023-24. Obviously, the 21-year-old winger is unlikely to challenge for a point-per-game pace, but he's on a team that lacks an established star on offense, which could give him an opportunity to see top-six minutes. Head coach John Tortorella will expect steady defense as well as offense from Foerster, so it's also very possible the young winger will need more time at AHL Lehigh Valley. Keep an eye on Foerster's usage during training camp. If he appears locked into a roster spot for the Flyers, his upside will rise considerably.

Finalzing eight-year extension
RWPhiladelphia Flyers
July 1, 2026
Foerster is expected to sign an eight-year contract worth approximately $56 million with the Flyers on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Foerster's cap hit will nearly double when his new deal kicks in ahead of the 2027-28 campaign and will keep the 24-year-old winger with the club well into his 30s. Injuries limited the Ontario native to just 29 regular-season games last year, but he still managed to rack up 13 goals to go with four helpers. With a full 84-game season, Foerster should be capable of challenging for the 30-goal and 50-point marks this year.
