After getting tastes of NHL action over the previous two campaigns, Kleven logged 79 regular-season appearances with Ottawa in 2024-25, finishing with four goals, 10 points, 27 PIM, 78 shots, 105 hits and 97 blocks. Those aren’t bad numbers for a 23-year-old, especially when you consider that he averaged a modest 14:28 of ice time. Although Kleven will likely remain in a third-pairing role this campaign, it would not be surprising to see his playing time increase. Kleven played primarily in the minors last season, recording five goals, 21 points and 51 PIM in 53 regular-season games with AHL Belleville, but he also recorded an assist, nine blocks and eight hits in nine contests with Ottawa. The 22-year-old defenseman is set to compete for a third-pairing spot at the NHL level during the Senators' training camp, and there's a decent shot of him winning that battle. Kleven doesn't have much offensive upside, but he might be a decent source of hits, blocks and PIM if he plays regularly.
