Taken with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Bjornfot hasn’t developed as hoped. He did log a career-high 70 NHL games during the 2021-22 regular season, but he’s appeared in just 28 NHL regular-season tilts across the past three campaigns. In the 2024-25 regular season, he had no points, 13 hits and 10 blocks in 14 outings with Florida as well as three goals and 18 points in 50 appearances with AHL Charlotte. Still just 24 years old, it’s too soon to write Bjornfot off, but he doesn’t seem to have a regular spot on Florida’s blue line unless an injury creates an opportunity. Read Past Outlooks

Bjornfot played four NHL games with three teams in 2023-24, skating in one contest with the Kings, two for the Golden Knights and one with the Panthers. He was claimed off waivers twice while spending time on injured reserve and appearing in 14 AHL outings between Ontario and Henderson on conditioning loans. Bjornfot didn't record a single point with the five teams he played for last campaign. At the NHL level, he was credited with one shot on goal, seven blocked shots and four hits. The 23-year-old defender will compete for a depth spot with Florida during training camp, but getting playing time in 2024-25 will be difficult, and he doesn't move the needle from a fantasy perspective either.
