2025 Fantasy Outlook
Carolina has a strong and deep defensive corps, so Walker averaged just 16:50 of ice time during the 2024-25 regular season, which led to him finishing with five goals, 16 points, 46 PIM, 144 shots, 91 hits and 90 blocks. Under different circumstances, he can record in the range of 20-30 points, but that scenario is unlikely to play out with the Hurricanes. As a result, you shouldn't project him to do any better than he did last year. Read Past Outlooks

Walker was a hot commodity last year, starting the year with the Flyers and then moving to the Avalanche in a deadline deal. He had a career-high 29 points in 81 regular-season outings and added 150 shots on goal, 127 blocked shots and 116 hits for some well-rounded production. He priced himself out of Colorado's budget, but the Hurricanes were able to get his signature at a $3.6 million cap hit after a lot of turnover on their blue line. Walker is a fine on-ice defenseman and doesn't weigh down fantasy rosters in any one area, but he's not going to be a driving force either. He'll likely fill a bottom-four role with the Hurricanes, and he's unlikely to see power-play time, so he's only an option in deeper formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might return for Game 5
Walker or Jalen Chatfield, who are both dealing with undisclosed injuries, might be ready to play in Game 5 versus Florida on Wednesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker has been on the shelf for the Canes' last two contests due to his lingering undisclosed injury. If the 30-year-old blueliner does get into the lineup for Game 5, it would likely mean a return to the press box for either Alexander Nikishin or Scott Morrow. For his part, Walker has generated one goal, two assists and 24 shots in 12 postseason appearances.
