2026 Fantasy Outlook
After shattering his previous career high in points with 53 in 2024-25, McLeod repeated that success last season by recording 14 goals, 40 assists, 90 shots, 16 PIM and 16 hits in 81 regular-season appearances. He hasn’t done much with the man advantage, averaging a modest 1:35 per game in 2025-26, which led to seven power-play assists. However, he’s become a big part of Buffalo’s penalty kill and scored an NHL-leading five shorthanded goals after tallying three in 2024-25. The Sabres should be pleased with the type of player McLeod has developed into, but he’ll turn 27 before the start of the 2026-27 campaign, so there isn't a high chance of further scoring growth. Another season in the 50-point range is a reasonable expectation, though his limited power-play role and modest non-scoring stats make him a less desirable option than other centers with similar projected point totals. Big night on power play in Game 1
McLeod produced a goal and an assist Wednesday, both on the power play, during the Sabres' 4-2 win over the Canadiens in Game 1 of their second-round series.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old center gave Buffalo a 2-0 lead midway through the first period before setting up Bowen Byram for the Sabres' final tally midway through the second. It was McLeod's first multi-point performance of the playoffs after he managed only one assist in the first round against the Bruins, and it was also his first game all season with multiple points on the power play.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
2022
The 2024-25 season was a true breakout campaign for McLeod, as he posted a career-high 53 points in 79 games, including racking up 35 points over his final 38 games. The 25-year-old possesses elite wheels and puck skills, which make him a menace on the penalty kill and a coach's dream in the two-way transition game. That defensive role may, unfortunately, limit his power-play exposure, but don't overlook the upside. Even with some regression from last year's likely unsustainable 20.6 shooting percentage, McLeod is firmly in the mix for another 20-plus goal season. If he builds on last year's second-half surge, a jump into the 60-point tier isn't out of the question.
