2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lomberg has spent his NHL career serving primarily as a fourth-line forward, and that's unlikely to change in 2025-26. Under ideal circumstances, he can record 15-20 points in that role, but he's fallen below that range in each of the past two seasons -- Lomberg had three goals and 13 points in 80 regular-season outings with Calgary in 2024-25 -- so don't be surprised if that happens again. Potential fantasy managers can benefit from his PIM total, as he ranks 18th in that category with 317 in 292 regular-season outings from 2021-22 through 2024-25. Lomberg is also a solid source of hits, having supplied over 110 in each of the past four campaigns. Read Past Outlooks

Lomberg was a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Ducks.
ANALYSIS
The Flames have gotten a look at Matvei Gridin in the lineup, leaving Lomberg out for 11 of the team's last 13 contests. The 31-year-old Lomberg probably wouldn't be the first choice to rotate in currently, as Aydar Suniev and Brennan Othmann are both younger options to fill a spot on the wings, as well as Tyson Gross, who can play center. Lomberg has nine points, 129 hits, 59 PIM and 53 shots on net over 57 appearances this season, and it would be surprising to see him get much of a chance to add to those totals.

Lomberg had five goals and seven points in 75 regular-season contests with Florida in 2023-24, down from 20 points in 2022-23. While that offensive decline is unfortunate, it's not where his strength lies anyway. Fantasy managers selecting him will be doing so for his PIM and hits -- he had 80 and 179, respectively, last year. He's not a safe bet to record that many hits again in 2024-25 -- last season was his first time above the 150-mark -- but he shouldn't have a problem spending at least 80 minutes in the sin bin for the fourth consecutive campaign.
