Johansen took a step back last season after generating 26 goals and 63 points in 79 games during the 2021-22 campaign, slipping to 12 goals and 28 points over 55 appearances in 2022-23. Johansen's impressive performance in 2021-22 was fueled by an unsustainable 22.0 shooting percentage, so some of his offensive decline was anticipated. He dropped back to 14.0 percent last year, but Johansen's struggles were compounded by him missing the final 27 games of Nashville's season after he was cut by a skate. He was acquired by Colorado in the offseason to help bolster the team's center depth. Johansen is likely to slot in on the second line this campaign. He should be able to at least partially bounce back with a best-case scenario resulting in him flirting with the 60-point plateau in 2023-24.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Loses battle over contract
Johansen, who didn't play last season, lost a grievance filed against the Flyers over his contract termination during the summer of 2024, Darren Dreger of TSN reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Johansen had one campaign left on an eight-year, $64 million pact when the Flyers terminated his contract due to what they called a "material breach." An arbitrator has ruled in favor of the club, confirming the termination. The 33-year-old is free to sign with any team, though it's not clear how much interest there is in his services. Although Johansen has reached the 60-point milestone on six occasions, he was limited to 23 points in 63 regular-season appearances with the Avalanche in 2023-24.
