2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dahlin has been an elite defenseman from an offensive standpoint in recent years. The 25-year-old had 17 goals and 68 points over 73 outings with Buffalo in 2024-25 and has now topped 50 points in four consecutive seasons. He’s also recorded at least 40 points in six of his first seven campaigns, with the only exception being the shortened 2020-21 season. That alone would make him worth taking, but Dahlin will provide value in a variety of other categories. Over the past three seasons, he’s recorded at least 50 PIM, 200 shots, 100 hits and 95 blocks in every campaign. Cale Makar should be the first blueliner taken in fantasy leagues, and Quinn Hughes is a good choice for the second. After that, it gets murky for who should be the third blueliner selected. There are strong contenders for that spot, but that's when fantasy managers should start considering Dahlin. Read Past Outlooks
Tallies in Game 7 loss
Dahlin scored a goal on five shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens in Game 7.
ANALYSIS
Dahlin's third-period tally forced overtime, but he didn't have one more heroic moment in him. The defenseman ended the postseason on a five-game point streak, in which he earned three goals and seven assists. Overall, he produced four goals, 10 helpers, 46 shots on net, 15 hits, 15 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 13 appearances in his first taste of postseason action. Dahlin is poised to be a pillar of the Sabres' defense for years to come and makes for a good pick to lead a fantasy blue line in drafts this fall.

Dahlin notched a career-high 20 goals and supplied 59 points in 81 games during the 2023-24 campaign. The Sabres plummeted from third overall in goals per game in 2022-23 to 23rd last season. That resulted in a 14-point decrease for Dahlin, who still managed to co-lead the team in offensive production. The 24-year-old was one of just four blueliners to hit the 20-goal mark in 2023-24. He also accumulated 235 shots on net, 154 blocked shots and 195 hits in 81 outings. Dahlin logs big minutes in all situations, and his multi-category coverage has made him a top-10 fantasy defenseman. Potential fantasy managers should expect more of the same in 2024-25.
