Has fractured hand
Dubois suffered a fractured hand during Sunday's 3-0 win over Pittsburgh, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
ANALYSIS
Dubois missed Washington's season finale Tuesday due to what was previously classified as an upper-body injury. The Capitals didn't make the playoffs, so Dubois has plenty of time to focus on his recovery. The 27-year-old is hoping to avoid surgery and be fine in a month or two. He finished 2025-26 with five goals and 19 points in 29 outings.

After bouncing around and playing for four teams since the decade began, it seems like Dubois has finally found a home with the Capitals. The 26-year-old registered a career-high 66 points, playing in all 82 games in the regular season for the second straight year. The Capitals were the leaders of the Eastern Conference in part because many guys like Dubois outperformed preseason expectations. Now the question becomes whether or not the versatile center can produce like this in consecutive seasons after getting back over the 20-goal threshold this year. Dubois will likely have to do so again from a middle-six and second power-play unit role, considering how well Dylan Strome performed as Alex Ovechkin's center, which might limit the potential for more production out of Dubois heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could play Friday
Dubois, who has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, could return to the lineup in Columbus on Friday, according to Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
ANALYSIS
Dubois took a big step forward Thursday, as he practiced while wearing a regular uniform after going a week with a non-contact jersey. Dubois is likely to return to his role as a top-two center upon his return, while Justin Sourdif would presumably move down Washington's depth chart.
