2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ekman-Larsson is a steady, top-four blueliner who plays with an edge while still chipping in offensively, and the move to Toronto -- his fourth team in five years -- hasn't changed that. He recorded four goals, 29 points, a plus-14 rating, 52 PIM, 108 hits and 83 blocks across 77 regular-season appearances with the Maple Leafs while averaging 21:04 of ice time in 2024-25. He has finished in the range of 22-32 points across each of his past six campaigns, so his most recent total wasn’t surprising, and given that he’s not too old at the age of 34, he should be able to continue to produce at that rate this season. He should also be good for 40-60 PIM and about 100 hits again, provided he stays healthy. Read Past Outlooks
Being held out Wednesday
Ekman-Larsson will not be in the lineup versus New Jersey on Wednesday for roster management, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With the trade deadline looming, it seems Ekman-Larsson may have played his last game with the Maple Leafs. The blueliner has been struggling to produce in the offensive zone of late, going 13 games without a goal while producing just four helpers. Depending on where he lands, Ekman-Larsson could be a candidate for more power-play minutes.

Ekman-Larsson had nine goals, 32 points, 76 PIM, 123 shots on net, 70 blocked shots and 105 hits in 80 regular-season contests with Florida in 2023-24. He's always been a solid but not great blueliner in terms of offensive production. He's reached the 40-point mark on five occasions, but not since 2018-19, so the 33-year-old is unlikely to hit that milestone in the upcoming campaign. Joining Toronto on a four-year, $14 million contract also isn't expected to help him reach new offensive heights -- he'll likely serve on the Maple Leafs' third pairing and second power-play unit. Still, it wouldn't be surprising to see him record around 30 points again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Hoping to stay with Leafs
Ekman-Larsson is not looking to be traded by Toronto, telling reporters Monday, "We love it here, we're happy here, I want to be here," Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Ekman-Larsson has two more seasons on his current contract, coming in at $3.5 million AAV, so it's certainly a manageable cap hit for another team to take on. The 34-year-old blueliner has already posted 35 points, his highest point total since 2018-19, when he was with the Coyotes, and he should reach the 40-point threshold this year.
