2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ostlund had a successful season with AHL Rochester last year, notching 38 points on 19 goals in 53 games. That earned him some time in the NHL, getting an eight-game look at the end of the season in which he had no points and was a minus-6 in 10:33 of ice time per night. The cup of coffee with the Sabres was disappointing, but the 21-year-old still certainly has an NHL future given his youth and room for improvement. The question is whether or not he capitalizes on that potential in the upcoming season. At the very least, he should be one of the first call-up options should injuries strike. Read Past Outlooks

Starting season in AHL
Ostlund is expected to spend the entire 2024-25 season playing in North America, likely starting with AHL Rochester, Kris Baker of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ostlund was the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and is one of Buffalo's top prospects. He scored 12 goals and 23 points through 38 games in Sweden before totaling two points in five AHL games, including the postseason. The 20-year-old forward should spend most of the year at the AHL level but could make his NHL debut at some point next season.
