2026 Fantasy Outlook
Ehlers's move to Carolina paid off in a big way. The 30-year-old winger produced 26 goals and 45 assists across all 82 regular-season games, firing 207 shots and adding 10 goals and 19 assists on the power play in his first season with the Hurricanes. The peripherals are light (21 hits, 24 blocked shots), but the points-and-goals profile is exactly what fantasy managers want. Project another 25-goal, 70-plus-point season in 2026-27. Ehlers is a safe mid-round target whose newfound durability and elite supporting cast remove much of the risk that previously surrounded him. Read Past Outlooks
Pots empty-netter in Game 6 win
Ehlers scored an empty-net goal on three shots in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
ANALYSIS
It's not every year that a big splash in free agency pays off, but Ehlers brought everything the Hurricanes could have asked for. His tally to seal the championship was his eighth goal of the playoffs, and he added 10 assists, 39 shots, 14 hits and a plus-9 rating over 18 appearances. He also had a 26-goal, 71-point effort -- a career-best year -- during the regular season. This was just the first campaign of a six-year deal, so expect Ehlers to be an early-round pick in fantasy drafts in the fall.

Despite a significant injury history, Ehlers has been productive offensively throughout much of his 20s. He was limited to 69 regular-season outings with the Jets in 2024-25, but he still finished with 24 goals and 63 points, which marks the eighth time in nine years he's surpassed the 20-goal milestone. He's also hit the 60-point mark in back-to-back seasons and four times in his career. Now heading to Carolina with a new six-year contract, Ehlers should see an increase in his ice time compared to his average of 15:48 over the past three campaigns. It wouldn't be surprising for him to feature on the first line and top power-play unit. There is an element of risk here due to his past injuries -- especially as the 29-year-old enters the back half of his career -- but the move to Carolina also presents him with an opportunity to surpass his career high of 64 points if all goes as hoped.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Close to signing
Ehlers is close to deciding which team he will sign with as an unrestricted free agent, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Johnston believes Ehlers has narrowed his options down to a few teams. The 29-year-old had 24 goals and 63 points across 69 regular-season outings with the Jets in 2024-25. He's easily the best unrestricted free agent remaining and should feature on the top six and first power-play unit for whatever team he decides to join.
