Vecchione was a Hobey Baker Award finalist in 2017 after tearing up the college ranks to the tune of 29 goals and 63 points in 38 games with Union College, and that enormous year earned him a midseason entry-level contract with the Flyers, which they followed up with a two-year deal in July. He'll have a lot of competition for a roster spot this fall, and even though Vecchione is both talented and hard-working, he may be best deployed in the AHL initially with only depth-line minutes available in Philadelphia.
