2025 Fantasy Outlook
Zibanejad’s 2024-25 campaign was a mixed bag. He had a stretch from Dec.14 to Jan.28 in which he recorded just three goals and eight points across 22 outings, and while he otherwise had a solid campaign, that slump dragged down his overall numbers. Zibanejad finished with 20 goals and 62 points in 82 appearances, which was his worst point total since 2017-18 if you exclude the shortened 2020-21 season (50 points in 56 outings). It was a drama-filled and ultimately disappointing season for the Rangers, so perhaps Zibanejad should be cut some slack for his inconsistency. He is still just 32 years old, which isn’t young by NHL standards, but many elite forwards continue to produce at or near their peak for years beyond that age. It would not be surprising to see him find his way back above the 70-point mark for the sixth time in eight years. Read Past Outlooks
Two points in regular-season finale
Zibanejad recorded a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Lightning.
ANALYSIS
Zibanejad closed out the regular season in style, ending a six-game goal drought and posting a multi-point performance in the process. Zibanejad had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in his last eight appearances, and he finished the 2025-26 campaign with 78 points (34 goals, 44 assists) in 81 regular-season contests, ending as one of the few bright spots in what was an otherwise lost season for the Rangers.

Zibanejad's 26 goals and 72 points in 81 contests would be considered a tremendously successful campaign for the vast majority of forwards, but for him, it represented the lower end of what fantasy managers were looking for out of the Swedish center. In terms of points per game, it was roughly in line with his worst showing since 2018-19, but that speaks to how great of a forward he is. Looking back at his campaign, there wasn't any one thing that stood out as a meaningful problem. His shooting percentage of 11.8 was the worst he'd done since 2016-17, but it still wasn't dramatically lower than his career average of 13.2. He did have a couple of mild cold streaks but was mostly a steady contributor. There's a lot to like here, and every reason to believe Zibanejad's 72 points still represents the low end of the spectrum for him, with an 80-90 point finish being perfectly achievable.

Joining Sweden for Worlds
Zibanejad will play for Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Zibanejad played in just two games for Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off, registering one goal. The 32-year-old center should be a lock to make the 2026 Winter Olympic roster for Sweden -- though a strong showing at Worlds certainly wouldn't hurt his case. Zibanejad had reportedly been on the trade block leading up to the trade deadline, but for now he remains under contract with New York through 2029-30 and holds a full no-movement clause.
