Back with Edmonton
Jones (lower body) signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Oilers on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Jones had just five points with 22 shots on net and 56 hits over 21 regular-season outings with the Oilers last season. He also had 18 points in 39 games with AHL Bakersfield. He ended the season sidelined by an injury, but he was expected to be healthy in May. That should clear the way for Jones to compete for bottom-six minutes in training camp.

Jones recorded a goal, two points, 18 PIM and 71 hits in 26 regular-season games between Boston and Edmonton in 2024-25 before being a healthy scratch for the entirety of the Oilers’ playoff run. Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, the 27-year-old has a solid chance of making Edmonton’s NHL roster as an extra forward. Jones will likely be plugged into the fourth line on occasion and should be a solid source of hits when that happens, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends up logging under 40 games.
