2025 Fantasy Outlook
Even with changes ahead for 2025-26 in Toronto, Knies figures to be part of the team's path forward. He broke out to the tune of 29 goals, 58 points and 182 hits over 78 regular-season games in his second full NHL campaign. Knies saw most of his time on the top line alongside Auston Matthews, who had a down year in goal scoring while filling more of a playmaking role. That certainly benefited Knies, who will be 23 years old for much of 2025-26, giving him a few more years of growth on offense. Knies is a power forward, and in fantasy formats that count hits, he can make up for any slump in scoring with his physicality. He's too talented to be a sleeper, but he should make for a solid mid-round pick this fall. Read Past Outlooks

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Knies' 2023-24 rookie season was a mixed bag, as he displayed some promise while dealing with consistency issues. Those problems are commonplace for first-year players, but Knies still had a productive introduction to the NHL, generating 15 goals, 35 points, 115 shots on net and 169 hits while averaging 13:41 of ice time per contest. He played up and down the lineup but logged most of his minutes in the top six. Knies will likely see more action alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner in 2024-25 following the departure of Tyler Bertuzzi in free agency. The 21-year-old Knies needs more ice time, especially on the power-play, but he will likely progress in the final year of his entry-level contract. He should exceed 40 points in the 2024-25 season and could inch close to the 50-point mark if he can consistently contribute on one of Toronto's top two lines.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could miss another game
Knies, who is contending with a lower-body issue, appears to be trending toward missing Wednesday's road game against Columbus, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Craig Berube relayed Monday that Knies is close to returning to the lineup, so even if he is unable to suit up Wednesday, it might not be too much longer until the left-shot winger is available. Knies, along with Auston Matthews and Nicolas Roy, practiced in grey sweaters before Toronto's practice Tuesday, which typically falls in line with a player being unavailable for the ensuing contest.
