2026 Fantasy Outlook
Knies built upon his power-forward profile in the 2025-26 regular season. The winger produced 23 goals and had a career-high 66 points across 79 games. He also registered 140 shots on net, 152 hits and 16 power-play points. Knies was productive alongside John Tavares and William Nylander, but he has played well alongside Auston Matthews as well. For the 2026-27 campaign, Knies could challenge the 30-goal plateau and finish with around 65-70 points while posting plenty of hits in a top-six role. He's a solid fantasy target in any format that rewards physicality. Read Past Outlooks
Ending season with whimper
Knies put up two assists Monday in a 6-5 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Knies had gone three games without a point, and aside from a four-point outburst a week ago, he had just five points (three goals, two assists) in his previous 12 games dating back to March 17. Knies is a franchise cornerstone, but he doesn't have the ability to lift the team into success. Overall, he has 66 points (23 goals, 43 assists) and 139 shots in 78 games this year.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
Even with changes ahead for 2025-26 in Toronto, Knies figures to be part of the team's path forward. He broke out to the tune of 29 goals, 58 points and 182 hits over 78 regular-season games in his second full NHL campaign. Knies saw most of his time on the top line alongside Auston Matthews, who had a down year in goal scoring while filling more of a playmaking role. That certainly benefited Knies, who will be 23 years old for much of 2025-26, giving him a few more years of growth on offense. Knies is a power forward, and in fantasy formats that count hits, he can make up for any slump in scoring with his physicality. He's too talented to be a sleeper, but he should make for a solid mid-round pick this fall.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might be available for trade
Knies might be available on the trade market, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Johnston reports that the Leafs gave serious consideration to moving Knies before the trade deadline, and John Chayka taking over as Leafs general manager from Brad Treliving hasn't ended those discussions. Knies had 23 goals, 66 points, 29 PIM and 152 hits in 79 appearances with Toronto in 2025-26. He's still just 23 years old and comes with a reasonable $7.75 million cap hit through 2030-31, so there's plenty of reason why Toronto would want to keep the power forward. Still, the return on Knies should be substantial if the Maple Leafs decide to go that route.
