2025 Fantasy Outlook
Following a season in which Joseph scored 11 goals and had 35 points, he notched just four goals and 14 points in his first campaign with the Blues. The 28-year-old played 60 games in the regular season, but he averaged just 11:54 of ice time, down from 16:28 in 2023-24, which helps explain his offensive decline. His use was even worse in the playoffs, as he was scratched in four of St. Louis' seven postseason games. Joseph is projected to start the upcoming campaign on the fourth line, so don't expect this to be a bounce-back campaign for him. Read Past Outlooks
Set to be released by Blues
Joseph is on waivers Thursday for the purpose of terminating his contract with St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
It would seem Joseph's cap hit ($2.95 million) was making it hard to find a potential trade partner or a team willing to pick him up off waivers. Assuming he clears, the 29-year-old winger will be free to sign with any NHL team at a lower cost, though he'll need to do it by Friday's trade deadline to be eligible to play in the postseason.

Joseph generated 11 goals and a career-high 35 points in 72 contests for Ottawa last season. He also set a new personal best with 124 shots on net and was credited with 105 hits. Joseph got off to a great start, collecting five tallies and 11 assists in his first 19 outings, but concluded the campaign with one goal and five helpers in 27 games. He spent most of his playing time alongside Tim Stutzle and Claude Giroux. However, the 27-year-old Joseph will have different linemates and a role further down the depth chart after being dealt to St. Louis in a cost-cutting move. He will likely be a bottom-six forward in 2024-25 but could be worth monitoring for a waiver pickup if he gets a chance to play higher in the lineup.

Contract to be terminated
Joseph is expected to go on unconditional waivers Thursday for the purpose of terminating his contract, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Joseph went unclaimed when he was placed on waivers previously, but that was when he was carrying a $2.95 million cap hit. Assuming he goes unclaimed, the 29-year-old winger will need to sign a new deal by the end of Friday's trade deadline in order to be available for the postseason with another team.
