2026 Fantasy Outlook
Barzal finally strung together a full season, and the result was exactly the kind of line fantasy managers have been waiting for. The 29-year-old forward produced 19 goals and 53 assists across 81 games, firing 184 shots and adding two goals and 18 assists on the power play. He added 29 hits, 50 blocked shots and 61 PIM for some peripheral contributions, and his plus-10 rating in a tough year was a quiet positive. Barzal's playmaking remains elite, as he's able to create time and space with his excellent edgework. Project another 70-plus-point campaign in 2026-27 with similar category coverage. Barzal is a mid-round target with upside if he can avoid the injury bug. Read Past Outlooks

In a season derailed by injuries, Barzal delivered six goals, 14 assists and a plus-10 rating over 30 appearances. It was a forgettable year for the Islanders, who simply can’t afford to be without one of their top players. A gifted playmaker with incredible edgework, the right-shot forward has point-per-game upside -- as evidenced by his 80-point output in 80 regular-season appearances in 2023-24 -- but he's now missed significant time in two of the last three campaigns. Nevertheless, Barzal is slated to be good to go for 2025-26 and will likely serve on the top line as well as the No. 1 power-play unit. If he’s reunited with Bo Horvat, Barzal's elite vision gives him ample upside, but his injury history is a concern, whether you think he’s injury-prone or just unlucky. Keep these factors in mind on draft day and target Barzal in the middle rounds.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Willing to play for Canada
Barzal didn't rule out the possibility of playing for Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Championship, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Barzal missed just one game during the regular season, notching 19 goals and 53 assists, including 20 power-play points, in 81 contests. It was the 28-year-old center's third time getting over the 70-point threshold in his 10-year NHL career. He should be capable of recreating those numbers in 2026-27, making him a top-end fantasy target.
