Heading to Winnipeg
Ferraro signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the Jets on Wednesday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports.
ANALYSIS
Ferraro will bolster the Jets' blue line in a big way as a shutdown defender. The 27-year-old put up career highs in goals (seven) and points (23) in 82 regular-season games with the Sharks in 2025-26. He's also logged at least 125 blocked shots in five straight years and at least 120 hits in each of his seven campaigns. Keep an eye on Ferraro in banger leagues, as he should be a candidate for top-four minutes in Winnipeg.

Getting fully healthy this offseason after suffering a broken ankle in April will be the first priority for Ferraro, but he’s projected to be ready for training camp. He’s coming off a solid season in which he recorded five goals and 12 assists in 78 games while averaging 21:24 of ice time. The 26-year-old (27 on Sept. 17) also recorded 150 hits and 125 blocked shots last year. He drew a lot of tough assignments as the top defenseman on the rebuilding Sharks, which led to an ugly minus-25 rating. Regardless, the six-year veteran could be a sneaky good sleeper option as the quality of the team improves around him, which could unlock some more offense along with his strong hit and shot blocking numbers.
