Lukas Dostal

Lukas Dostal

25-Year-Old GoalieG
Anaheim Ducks
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dostal appears to be the Ducks' goalie of the future, and the future is getting really close as the team is nearly out of its rebuild. However, the 25-year-old netminder still has some things to work on. He had a 23-23-7 record with a 3.10 GAA and a .903 save percentage over 54 games in 2024-25. Dostal's ratios faded to a 3.52 GAA and an .887 save percentage in March and April, but the Ducks' extremely young defense and his heavy workload down the stretch played a role. Dostal is one of many young goalies in the organization, but he's the most established, and if the team's defense tightens up, he's poised for a breakout year in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks

Set to face Edmonton
GAnaheim Ducks
February 25, 2026
Dostal is expected to start at home against Edmonton on Wednesday, per Derek Lee of The Hockey News.
ANALYSIS
Dostal was red hot before the Olympic break, posting an 8-1-0 record, 1.96 GAA and .930 save percentage across nine appearances. That's a huge difference from how the 2025-26 campaign has gone overall. He has a 21-13-2 record, 2.92 GAA and .897 save percentage in 38 outings with Anaheim this season. Edmonton is tied for fourth in goals per game with 3.41 in 2025-26.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Dostal started 2023-24 as the backup but seized the starter's reins late in the season. His 14-23-3 record, 3.33 GAA and .902 save percentage in 44 games were solid behind a bad team, but it was his play for Czechia at the IIHF World Championships that really turned heads. Dostal backstopped his team to a gold medal, and he was named Best Goaltender for his 6-2 record with three shutouts, 1.58 GAA and .939 save percentage. He's clearly the future in the Anaheim net, and he's ready to take on a bit more responsibility. Unfortunately, he's somewhat blocked by the untradeable John Gibson, who has struggled for several seasons and is signed for three more. The two men split games last season and could again, but Dostal should really see an uptick in starts to about 50. The Ducks are young, though, so his impact should be tempered.
Dostal is a young goaltender with plenty of promise, but last season he tended the net of a Ducks squad struggling defensively, which resulted in a 4-10-3 record, a 3.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 19 contests. Remarkably, that's actually slightly better numbers than John Gibson, who posted a 3.99 GAA and an .899 save percentage, which highlights just how miserable an experience it is to be a Ducks goaltender. In the long run, Anaheim's core could grow to the point where the Ducks are a serious contender and that might align with Dostal being at his peak. For the 2023-24 campaign, though, he's likely to serve as the backup netminder, and a combination of growing pains and Anaheim's defensive issues are likely to prevent him from putting up passable numbers for most fantasy managers.

Could get back-to-back starts
GAnaheim Ducks
February 17, 2026
Dostal might patrol the crease for Czechia in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Winter Olympics against Canada on Wednesday, per Luke Fox of Sportsnet on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Dostal made 24 saves in Czechia's 3-2 win over Denmark on Tuesday in the qualification round. He feels comfortable making back-to-back starts, which is something he did often while playing in Europe, and it wouldn't be surprising if he played against Canada on Wednesday.
