Traded to Buffalo in Byram deal

June 23, 2026
Crevier was traded Tuesday, alongside the fourth and 45th overall picks in 2026, to the Sabres from the Blackhawks in exchange for Bowen Byram and Jordan Greenway, freelance insider Frank Seravalli reports.
ANALYSIS
Crevier will be a defensive fixture for the Sabres, giving them added size and shutdown skills on the right side of the blue line. In 2025-26, he logged seven goals, 18 assists, 124 hits, 95 blocked shots, 114 shots on net and 63 PIM over 78 appearances in his first full-time campaign at the NHL level. The 25-year-old could find a little more offense with his new team, which is further along in the competitive cycle, especially if he holds onto a top-four role. Crevier's all-around production makes him a potential deep-league target in fantasy for 2026-27.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Crevier isn't guaranteed a spot in the Blackhawks' lineup as one of many young defensemen in the organization, but the 24-year-old could carve out a bottom-four role if younger players aren't ready to step up. He's produced just seven points with a minus-22 rating over 56 appearances across the last two seasons. Crevier still brings some thump -- he had 70 hits in just 32 games last year -- and will likely need to make an impact through physical play rather than scoring. That leaves him with minimal fantasy potential for 2025-26.
Crevier is a defensive defenseman who ate some minutes with the rebuilding Blackhawks last season. He finished with three assists, a minus-16 rating, 30 hits and 50 blocks in 24 contests while averaging 15:41 of ice time. Although you can write off his poor plus/minus as a function of playing for a bad squad, his analytics suggest that Crevier struggled even relative to the low bar set by his teammates. That makes it hard to get too excited about his prospects for this season, especially with the competition on the Blackhawks' blue line fiercer following the summer additions of Alec Martinez and T.J. Brodie. Still, if the 23-year-old Crevier can find his way into the lineup, then he should be a good source of hits and blocks.
