2025 Fantasy Outlook
Karlsson got his feet wet in the NHL last season, posting just three goals and three assists in 27 games with the Canucks. However, down in the AHL playoffs, he turned heads as he led Abbotsford in scoring (26 points in 24 games) during their run to the Calder Cup Finals. His NHL advanced stats (7.16 HDCF per 60, 1.43 ixG per 60) suggest there may be more under the hood than the surface numbers showed. If he can earn the trust of new head coach Adam Foote, Karlsson could carve out a regular role in Vancouver this season. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Karlsson found the back of the net for the first time since March 19, when he scored a goal in a 6-2 loss to the Lightning. The 26-year-old forward only recorded one point in the seven games between the last two in which he scored, so he's been far from reliable in most fantasy formats. His bottom-six role in one of the worst offenses in the league doesn't really help his fantasy prospects, either. WIth 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) in 73 games, Karlsson isn't much of a fantasy asset outside of the very deep formats.

Karlsson is coming off a fantastic season in Sweden in which he racked up 26 goals and 20 assists in 52 games for Skelleftea AIK, resulting in him being named rookie of the year in the SHL. It's hard to imagine the Canucks will stick Karlsson in the minors given his offensive upside, so fantasy players may expect to see him on the 23-man roster for Opening Night of the 2022-23 campaign.
