Hutson's sophomore campaign confirmed every bit of the rookie-year hype. The 22-year-old Canadiens defenseman piled up 12 goals and 66 assists across all 82 regular-season games, adding 18 power-play assists, 137 blocked shots and a sparkling plus-36 rating while Montreal pushed deeper into the postseason picture. He still needs to fire more pucks -- just 124 shots is light for a top offensive blueliner --, but his playmaking from the back end is genuinely elite. Sharing the ice with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield gives him the runway to push for 80 points again in 2026-27. ANALYSIS
The star blueliner snapped a slick feed from Cole Caufield into an open net early in the second period to tie the game at 2-2, but Montreal's scoring chances dried up after that -- the Habs managed just two shots on Frederik Andersen between the third period and OT. Hutson snapped a 13-game goal drought with the tally, but through 17 contests this postseason, he's collected three goals and 15 points. He may need to find another gear in Game 4 on Wednesday if Montreal is going to even the series.

In fact, it was so impressive that Hutson took home the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie. The 21-year-old blueliner led the Canadiens with 60 assists and ranked second on the team with 26 power-play points. Hutson led all NHL rookies in points, assists, power-play points and average ice time (22:44). He also earned 123 blocked shots but had only 91 shots on net. He needs to shoot more to increase his fantasy value, but Huston’s offensive potential will make him an intriguing option in all formats during the 2025-26 campaign.
