Despite playing in 70 regular-season games with the Flames last year, the veteran Rooney will have to earn his spot in training camp with his former club, the Devils. In those aforementioned 70 contests, the Massachusetts native notched five goals and five helpers. If Rooney makes the club coming out of training camp, he figures to slide into a bottom-six role and likely will offer more physicality than anything else, limiting his fantasy upside. Rooney will likely spend the season alternating between serving on the fourth line and being a healthy scratch. When he is in the lineup, he should be a decent source of hits, but the 31-year-old is unlikely to provide meaningful help in any other category.
