2025 Fantasy Outlook
Considering he wasn't even signed until training camp, Lankinen's performance for the Canucks was absolutely massive, especially considering Thatcher Demko never really looked comfortable after a long-term knee injury. Lankinen finished the season with a 25-15-10 record, a 2.62 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Those weren't league-winning numbers in fantasy, but he was plenty helpful for managers who plucked him off the waiver wire early on. The 30-year-old won't be facing uncertainity in his playing situation for a while, as he earned a five-year contract extension in February. Lankinen and Demko figure to share the crease, and while Lankinen might not be a full-time starter, he's still no worse than a No. 3 option in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
Pulled after two periods
Lankinen allowed three goals on 13 shots in Monday's 4-0 loss to the Red Wings.
ANALYSIS
Lankinen lasted just two periods before turning the crease over to Nikita Tolopilo. It's a sixth straight loss for Lankinen, who has gone 0-5-1 with a 3.61 GAA and an .845 save percentage in that span. Overall, he's at 4-10-3 with a 3.49 GAA and an .878 save percentage through 17 outings. Thatcher Demko (lower body) is targeting a return Thursday versus the Sabres, though Demko's long injury history means Lankinen may still be needed for 40-50 percent of the Canucks' starts to avoid burning out their top netminder.

Moving from rebuilding Chicago to Nashville meant Lankinen had significantly less playing time in 2022-23. Working as a backup to Juuse Saros, Lankinen had a 9-8-1 record, a 2.75 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Those numbers are more in line with his rookie year, so it's safe to say Lankinen is a fairly solid backup, though he'll feel a bit of a hot seat as the only thing standing between top prospect Yaroslav Askarov and an NHL job. Lankinen will want to perform well in his walk year, and if the Predators fall out of contention (or maybe even if they don't), he could be on the move at the trade deadline to shore up a contender's depth in the crease.
