Williams was never drafted, but he made a name for himself with Northeastern University, recording 16 goals and 41 points in 37 outings as a junior in 2024-25. That earned the 23-year-old a two-year, entry-level contract with Columbus, which gave him his first taste of NHL action April 17. He had no points or shots, a plus-1 rating and one block in 11:09 of ice time in his debut. Williams will be in the mix for a spot on the Blue Jackets’ Opening Night roster, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he instead gets some seasoning in the minors before his next NHL opportunity.
