For the Penguins, he posted 18 goals and 36 points in 43 appearances. He also registered 104 shots on net, six power-play points, 23 blocked shots and 21 hits. Chinakhov was acquired by Pittsburgh from Columbus in December, which led to him getting a much bigger role with his new team. The Russian winger set new high-water marks in goals (21), assists (21), shots (140) and games played (72) during the 2025-26 regular season between the two teams. While Chinakhov didn't record a point in the 2026 playoffs, he had a strong end to the regular season, generating eight goals and 22 points over the final 18 games, so he has sleeper appeal heading into this coming season as a top-six player in Pittsburgh.

Chinakhov concluded the 2024-25 regular season with seven goals and 15 points in 30 appearances with Columbus. He showcased plenty of promise at the beginning of the year, lighting the lamp seven times and posting 14 points in his first 21 outings. However, he missed 39 straight games afterward due to a back injury and couldn't find his footing after returning to the lineup in early March. Chinakhov had one assist in nine contests and sat out 13 matchups as a healthy scratch, which likely led to his trade request this offseason. He could be a worthwhile waiver-wire addition in fantasy leagues if he lands a top-six role in Columbus or elsewhere.
