Inks eight-year contract extension
Luostarinen is signing an eight-year, $40 million contract extension with the Panthers on Wednesday, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.
ANALYSIS
Luostarinen appeared in 73 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign -- his lowest mark since the 2020-21 season -- but remained productive, logging 11 goals, 22 assists, 121 hits, 57 blocked shots and 32 PIM while averaging 16:34 of ice time. After spending the last six seasons with Florida, he'll remain under contract with the team on a long-term deal.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
2020
Luostarinen plays a physical game while periodically chipping in offensively, as he showed in 2024-25 by recording nine goals, 24 points, 28 PIM and 183 hits across 80 regular-season outings with Florida. He stepped up in the Stanley Cup Finals with a goal and six points over the final five games of the series, which is a nice line on his resume, but it’s important not to overstate what that means to his fantasy value. He’s likely to continue to serve primarily on the third line and receive little power-play time, which puts a cap on his overall offensive production. He’ll give you the occasional hot streak but is likely to finish the 2025-26 regular season with under 30 points.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Finalizing extension
Luostarinen and the Panthers are working on a contract extension, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
With one year left on his current deal, Luostarinen isn't eligible to put pen to paper until Wednesday, though LeBrun seems to think it could happen that quickly. In 73 regular-season outings this year, the 27-year-old winger notched 11 goals and 22 helpers, getting back over the 30-point threshold for the first time since 2022-23.
