The numbers were just one part of the story -- Tarasov also lost opportunities to Jet Greaves at times throughout 2024-25, and Greaves' surge late in the season could leave a lasting impression. All this led to the Jackets' decision to trade Tarasov away to the Panthers this offseason. The youngster is a restricted free agent this summer, so he'll still need a new contract before he can serve as the No. 2 option behind Sergei Bobrovsky.
