2026 Fantasy Outlook
Tarasov's move from Columbus to Florida gave him a fresh start, and he made the most of a heavier workload despite Florida's struggles in 2025-26. He logged a career-high 33 games while posting a 13-15-3 record with a 3.05 GAA and .895 save percentage. He logged more playing time down the stretch, when the Panthers had nothing to play for and could see an increased role if Sergei Bobrovsky doesn't re-sign or gets rested more in the 2026-27 campaign. However, Tarasov's inconsistency makes him a bit of a wild card. Still, he has the potential to be a solid option if his workload goes up, and Florida bounces back with a healthier lineup. Signs with Wings
Tarasov inked a one-year, $2 million contract with Detroit on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Tarasov figures to serve as the No. 2 option behind John Gibson in 2026-27. With the Panthers last season, the 27-year-old Tarasov went 13-15-3 with a 3.05 GAA, but he was playing behind a roster decimated by injuries. It's unclear if Tarasov will get a similar workload this campaign, but he could see his fair share of starts if Gibson deals with inconsistency or injuries.

2023
It was a pivotal year for Tarasov's NHL future, and he didn't rise to the challenge in 2024-25. The 26-year-old netminder went 7-10-2 with a 3.55 GAA and an .880 save percentage over 20 games. The numbers were just one part of the story -- Tarasov also lost opportunities to Jet Greaves at times throughout 2024-25, and Greaves' surge late in the season could leave a lasting impression. All this led to the Jackets' decision to trade Tarasov away to the Panthers this offseason. The youngster is a restricted free agent this summer, so he'll still need a new contract before he can serve as the No. 2 option behind Sergei Bobrovsky.
