ANALYSIS
Mackey had five goals, 18 points and 87 PIM in 62 regular-season outings with AHL Hartford in 2025-26. He also has four goals, 11 points and 84 PIM in 45 career regular-season appearances in the NHL. Although the 29-year-old will compete for an Opening Night roster spot with the Blackhawks, he's likely to begin the season in the AHL.

The lack of NHL time coincided with entering the Rangers' organization, and there seems to be no reason to suggest an uptick in minutes is forthcoming. As a result, the 28-year-old will likely continue to spend the bulk of his time with AHL Hartford, where he amassed six goals, 18 assists and 102 PIM in 66 games last season.
