The 20-year-old Yakemchuk has yet to make his NHL debut but was the No. 7 overall pick in 2024. With Belleville this season, the right-shot blueliner has accounted for 10 goals, 36 points and a minus-30 rating over 50 appearances.

Yakemchuk's added weight should help him with his main objective this season, which is to improve on offense. Per Claire Hanna of TSN, the Senators believe Yakemchuk's offense will be fine at the NHL level as long as he commits to playing a 200-foot game. His defense appears to be the limiting factor so far. The blueliner turns 20 on Sept. 29, so he would be eligible to play for AHL Belleville if he doesn't make the Senators' Opening Night roster, though he could also head back to WHL Calgary, where he produced 49 points in 56 regular-season games in 2024-25.
