Brock Faber

Brock Faber

22-Year-Old DefensemanD
Minnesota Wild
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Faber had a fantastic rookie season with the Wild in 2023-24, providing eight goals and 47 points in 82 games. He also had a minus-one rating, 26 PIM, 65 hits and ranked second among Minnesota players in blocks with 150 while averaging a team-high 24:58 of ice time that included prominent roles on both the power play and in shorthanded situations. That versatility helped him finish second in Calder Trophy voting and should lead to him being a pillar of the Wild's blue line for years to come. Still just 22 years old, Minnesota will get Faber for one more season on an entry-level deal before his eight-year, $68 million contract extension kicks in. Look for him to help earn that payday by supplying another 45-55 points this season while blocking well over 125 shots. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed an eight-year, $68 million contract with the Wild in July of 2024.
Prevents shutout Friday
DMinnesota Wild
March 7, 2025
Faber scored a power-play goal on four shots and added three hits in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Canucks.
ANALYSIS
Faber tallied at 7:12 of the third period to break up Kevin Lankinen's shutout bid. This ended a 15-game goal drought for Faber, who was limited to two power-play assists and a minus-9 rating in that span. There's no doubt it's been a rough stretch for Faber, but he remains on the top pairing and first power-play unit for the Wild. He's now at seven goals, 24 points (10 on the power play), 80 shots on net, 76 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 59 contests. While the 22-year-old has had a sophomore slump, the long-term future is still quite bright.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
A former standout at both the University of Minnesota and for Team USA at multiple World Junior tournaments, Faber turned pro following his junior season with the Gophers and appeared in two games for the Wild late in the year in addition to all six of their playoff contests. Faber is a strong skater with an excellent work ethic, but it's highly unlikely he will see enough power-play time to amass any fantasy value at the NHL level. That said, the 21-year-old is a future top-four defender for the Wild, likely beginning this upcoming season.

Might return against Preds
DMinnesota Wild
January 16, 2025
Faber, who has been sidelined with an upper-body injury, could be an option versus Nashville on Saturday, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Faber has missed four games due to his upper-body issue but seems to be trending in the right direction. The 22-year-old blueliner is slightly off his pace from last season, when he racked up 47 points in 82 regular-season games as a rookie. Still, as long as Faber doesn't miss significantly more time, he should once again top the 40-point threshold.
