Brandt Clarke

23-Year-Old DefensemanD
Los Angeles Kings
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Clarke played all 82 regular-season games and posted eight goals and 32 assists with 13 power-play points, 185 blocked shots and 159 shots on net. The secondary numbers are strong from a young defenseman, and the plus-11 rating showed his steadiness in his own zone. Clarke's offensive role should continue to grow, particularly on the power play, and his shot volume indicates upside to improve in goals. Project a 10-goal, 45-50-point season with plenty of blocks and shots on net in 2026-27. Clarke is a mid-to-late round fantasy target, with one of the higher ceilings in this tier given his age and the potential for his role with the Kings to keep growing in his age-23 season. Signs five-year extension
DLos Angeles Kings
June 26, 2026
Clarke signed a five-year, $37 million contract extension with the Kings on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Clarke wrapped up his entry-level deal in 2025-26, posting eight goals, 32 assists, 159 shots on net, 185 blocked shots, 63 PIM and a plus-11 rating over 82 regular-season games. His new deal will carry a $7.4 million cap hit. This cements his place in the Kings' future plans and should help the team ease the transition on the blue line as Clarke starts to take over the top role from Drew Doughty. The 23-year-old Clarke should be a popular fantasy pick this year, especially if he retains a spot on the first power-play unit.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

A dynamic defenseman with enormous offensive potential, Clarke exhibited flashes last season of why he was taken with the No. 8 overall pick in 2021. Over the first 41 games of 2024-25, the 22-year-old supplied three goals and 22 points, but across his last 37 appearances, Clarke contributed just two goals and 11 points while seeing his ice time decrease. The deceptively creative blueliner still needs to improve defensively, but Clarke's upside on offense is clear -- Clarke received 17.1 percent of shift starts in the offensive zone this past season, the highest mark among Kings defensemen. He might be sheltered again in 2025-26, but if he can earn a full-time role on the power play, Clarke should be able to reach the 40-point mark. He merits a late-round selection in all formats, but it’ll be worth monitoring what type of workload he receives early in 2025-26.
Through the previous two campaigns, Clarke has only managed to appear in 25 regular-season contests for the Kings. In those outings, the 21-year-old Ontario native notched two goals on 42 shots and six assists, including four power-play helpers. The blueliner is expected to make the full-time jump to the NHL this season and could be the quarterback for the No. 2 power-play unit. As such, at least a 40-point campaign could be in the offing for Clarke - especially after he averaged nearly a point per game in the minors last year (46 points in 50 games). That may be an ambitious mark considering his limited experience, but the fantasy upside is certainly there for Clarke if he can be a full-time NHL option.
It's widely believed Clarke will make the jump to the NHL in 2023-24, especially after the Kings shipped Sean Durzi off to Arizona this summer. Clarke spent most of 2022-23 with OHL Barrie, racking up 84 points over 43 games between the regular season and the playoffs. He also recorded two points at each of the AHL (five games) and NHL (nine games) levels. At 20 years old and joining a strong team, Clarke figures to be eased into action -- think third-pairing minutes with time on the second power-play unit. Dynasty managers need to know his name, but those in redraft formats can wait to see how he adjusts with the big club this year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected to re-sign
DLos Angeles Kings
April 29, 2026
Clarke is interested in staying with the Kings long term, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Clarke is eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer. The 23-year-old had eight goals and 40 points in 82 regular-season outings in 2025-26 after finishing the previous regular season with 33 points in 78 appearances. He was limited to an assist in four playoff outings this year, but he did block 13 shots in the first-round series. Now that the Kings have been eliminated from the postseason, they're likely to focus on working out the terms of Clarke's next contract.
