Following a 20-goal, 18-assist season in his second year at UMass, Suniev signed his entry-level deal and turned pro with the Flames, getting in one game at the NHL level last season. As for the upcoming campaign, the 20-year-old faces an uphill battle to make the team out of training camp and will likely spend much of the season in the AHL.
