2026 Fantasy Outlook
After getting tastes of the NHL in Vancouver, the move to Pittsburgh presented Silovs with a chance to play regularly. He didn't exactly use that opportunity to steal the spotlight, but the 25-year-old was servicable, posting a 19-12-8 record, 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage in 39 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Silovs began the campaign competing for playing time with Tristan Jarry and then Stuart Skinner, after Edmonton and Pittsburgh swapped goaltenders. However, Skinner isn't likely to be back with Pittsburgh next campaign, so Silovs' value will be partially determined by who the Penguins get to serve as his alternative. In an ideal scenario for Silovs, he'll be a serviceable 1B next season, but don't expect measurably better results than he had last season. Read Past Outlooks
Agrees to short-term deal
Silovs agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Penguins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Silovs made 39 appearances in his first year with the Penguins in 2025-26, posting a 19-12-8 record, 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage. The Latvian netminder will certainly have to prove himself in 2026-27 to earn a longer contract next year, which might be difficult if Silovs can't command more playing time than Sergei Murashov and Joel Blomqvist, the latter of whom the Penguins signed to a two-year contract Sunday.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
After some heroics in the 2024 playoffs, Silovs wasn't able to replicate that success to begin the 2024-25 regular season. He started the year 1-4-1 and lost his spot on the NHL roster in December, coming up again only as an injury replacement. Silovs still showed some skill in the AHL, going 14-5-1 with a 2.41 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 21 appearances, but his 3.65 GAA and .861 save percentage over 10 NHL games is a concern. Realistically, Silovs won't be seeing much NHL time when both Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen are healthy, but Demko's long injury history could afford Silovs more chances than the average organizational No. 3 goalie would get.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Uncertain about Worlds
Silovs has been playing through a knee injury and wasn't sure if he'd join Latvia for the 2026 IIHF World Championship, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Silovs took over for the Penguins in Game 4, going 2-1-0 with a 1.52 GAA and .939 save percentage across three playoff outings in the first round against Philadelphia. During the regular season, the 25-year-old backstop went 19-12-8 with a 3.07 GAA and two shutouts. A restricted free agent this offseason, he should be back with the Penguins next year. Silovs may need to settle for being the No. 2 option behind Sergei Murashov, though they could battle for starts in 2026-27.
