Arthur Kaliyev

Arthur Kaliyev

23-Year-Old Right WingRW
Los Angeles Kings
2024 Fantasy Outlook
For the first time in his three-year career, Kaliyev failed to reach the 20-point threshold. He saw action in just 51 regular-season games last year - though that didn't stop him from reaching that mark back in 2022-23 when he played in 56 contests. Despite likely filling a fourth-line role, the hard-shooting winger could still see minutes with the No. 2 power-play unit, which should help to bolster his offensive upside. If the 23-year-old winger can avoid spending time in the press box as a healthy scratch, he could push for the 30-point threshold. Read Past Outlooks

Inks one-year deal
RWLos Angeles Kings
September 18, 2024
Kaliyev signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with the Kings on Wednesday, per John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio.
ANALYSIS
Kaliyev had seven goals and 15 points in 51 regular-season contests with LA in 2023-24. He was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. Kaliyev is in the mix for a bottom-six spot with the Kings and would have to go through waivers if he doesn't make LA's Opening Night roster.

Kaliyev's numbers a season ago (13 goals, 28 points) were nearly identical to his 2021-22 rookie campaign (14 goals, 27 points), with the main difference being he appeared in just 56 games a season ago due to various ailments compared to his 80-game first year. Kaliyev is never going to be a high assist guy, but he can really fire the puck. He could very easily develop into a perennial 30-goal scorer at the NHL level, with a good chunk of that production coming with the man advantage. That's not league-winning upside, but Kaliyev, who will play this entire season at age 22, should be rostered in deeper fantasy formats.
Kaliyev seized a full-time role in his rookie season with the Kings, appearing in 80 of the club's 82 games as a 20-year-old. His numbers were mediocre (14 goals, 27 points), but Kaliyev fired 194 shots on goal, and his 7.2 percent shooting percentage says he was a bit unlucky in the goals scored department. Kaliyev is a massive kid who lacks foot speed, but he's excellent with the man advantage, as his nine power-play points a season ago showed. There probably isn't enough here for redraft value, but Kaliyev is an obvious long-term asset in both keeper and dynasty formats.
