2026 Fantasy Outlook
It’s easy to recommend Vasilevskiy. He had a 39-15-4 record, 2.31 GAA and .911 save percentage in 58 regular-season outings with Tampa Bay in 2025-26. Those are fantastic numbers, and they’re also largely par for the course for him. His career averages for GAA and save percentage are 2.50 and .917, respectively, and he’s now hit the 30-win milestone in nine consecutive campaigns. It helps that he plays for Tampa Bay, which has now made the playoffs for nine straight years, but he’s also an elite goaltender who helps drive his team's success. Although Vasilevskiy has been a top-tier netminder for a while, he’s still just 32 years old, so there’s likely a fair bit left in the tank. After an off 2025-26 campaign from Connor Hellebuyck, there’s a strong argument to be made for Vasilevskiy to be the first goalie off the board in fantasy drafts. Read Past Outlooks
Season ends with brutal loss
Vasilevskiy stopped just seven of nine shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Canadiens in Game 7.
ANALYSIS
Tampa Bay dominated play and out-shot Montreal 29-9 in the game, but Vasilevskiy got beat twice on shots he had almost no chance at -- one a Nick Suzuki redirection in the first period, and the second in the final frame when Alex Newhook batted the puck out of midair on his backhand from an almost impossible angle and had it deflect home off the netminder's leg. Vasilevskiy will head home and await the results of the Vezina voting after posting a 2.18 GAA and .897 save percentage over seven playoff games, following a regular season in which he had a 39-15-4 record with a 2.31 GAA and .911 save percentage over 58 outings.

Rumors of Vasilevskiy's decline ended up being little more than preseason chatter, as the netminder had one of the best years of his career in 2024-25. He went 38-20-5 with a 2.18 GAA and a .921 save percentage over 63 games, though the Lightning couldn't get past the Panthers in the first round of the playoffs. For fantasy purposes, this could be a blessing in disguise -- Vasilevksiy has seen some extremely heavy workloads over the years, but he'll have plenty of offseason to get ready for 2025-26. The 31-year-old remains among the NHL's elite goalies, and while age will catch up to him eventually, there's not enough evidence that a decline is imminent to scare off fantasy managers who like to stock up in the crease early in drafts.

ANALYSIS
Vasilevskiy looks set to feature in the regular-season finale in a final tune-up appearance before the playoffs. In 58 outings this campaign, the 31-year-old backstop has posted a 39-15-4 record, 2.31 GAA and two shutouts. If he earns a victory in Wednesday's contest, Vasilevskiy will hit the 40-win threshold for the first time since 2017-18.
