He recovered from a sluggish start by generating 24 tallies and 15 assists in 44 outings to end the regular season. Fantilli got a boost when Sean Monahan was out with a wrist injury and made the most of his top-line promotion. However, Fantilli continued to rack up points after sliding back into a second-line role down the stretch. He also added 191 shots on goal and 113 hits. The 21-year-old forward will hit the 60-point mark if he cracks the scoresheet in the regular-season finale against the Capitals on Tuesday. Even if he falls short of that milestone, he has posted career-best numbers with 24 goals and a personal-best 35 assists in 81 appearances.

Fantilli had a strong rookie campaign with 12 goals and 27 points in 49 outings, but a leg injury prevented him from playing past Jan. 28. While it was a rough end to his campaign, it doesn't change the fact that the 19-year-old (20 on Oct. 12) has tremendous upside. Having already given Columbus a taste of what he can do, the rebuilding Blue Jackets will likely use him in a top-six capacity and on the first power-play unit. If that proves to be the case, then it wouldn't be surprising to see Fantilli jump to 50-60 points in his sophomore season, though of course there's some risk there given that his level of NHL experience is still relatively low.
