He recovered from a sluggish start by generating 24 tallies and 15 assists in 44 outings to end the regular season. Fantilli got a boost when Sean Monahan was out with a wrist injury and made the most of his top-line promotion. The 21-year-old ended the slump early in the third period, closing out March with seven goals and 16 points over 17 appearances. For the season, the center is up to 22 goals, a career-high 55 points, 199 shots on net, 127 hits, 46 blocked shots, 34 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 75 outings. Fantilli is a strong fantasy option to close out the campaign, especially if he stays on the top line.

Fantilli had a strong rookie campaign with 12 goals and 27 points in 49 outings, but a leg injury prevented him from playing past Jan. 28. While it was a rough end to his campaign, it doesn't change the fact that the 19-year-old (20 on Oct. 12) has tremendous upside. Having already given Columbus a taste of what he can do, the rebuilding Blue Jackets will likely use him in a top-six capacity and on the first power-play unit. If that proves to be the case, then it wouldn't be surprising to see Fantilli jump to 50-60 points in his sophomore season, though of course there's some risk there given that his level of NHL experience is still relatively low.

Fantilli and the Blue Jackets aren't expected to finalize a contract extension before the season. General manager Don Waddell told reporters, "We've had no negotiations at all. It won't get done before the season," per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic on Monday.
